Paul Jarvis is a freelancer evangelist. In his online course, The Creative Class, he teaches creatives and freelancers how to run their businesses better.
In this episode, Paul and I discuss the life of a freelancer (including the two most common mistakes freelancers make), how to deal with mean comments online, the benefit of doing things your own way, how to find your right people in business, and owning your voice so you can write exactly as you are (cussing and weird jokes included!)

More About Paul
Paul launched a freelance web design business in the ‘90s that has survived several economic downturns. He’s had a full client roster and a multi-month waiting list for over a decade and has worked with companies like Microsoft, Yahoo and MTV, plus entrepreneurs with massive digital empires, including Danielle LaPorte, Alexandra Franzen, Marie Forleo and Kris Carr (and a whole bunch of amazing folks in between).
He applied what he learned in his web design work to writing, and grew his audience from zero to releasing a bestseller, just a year-and-a-half after writing his first book. Paul’s words now appear in every major business publication (Inc, Fast Company, Forbes, etc) and reach over 100,000 people every month.
