Amanda Berlin has over a decade of experience in the public relations world, and now aims to use her pitch powers for good. She helps entrepreneurs write their web content, tell their brand story, and spread their message in the media.
Amanda believes that we all have something important we're putting out there into the world and it's our responsibility to raise our voices so that the people who need us can find us. She is the creator of PITCH School and serves as mentor in the online course that teaches entrepreneurs how to become a publicist for their own brands - pitching interviews, guest posts, and product placements. She is also the host of The PITCH Podcast, where she strategizes with entrepreneurs on their next media pitch and speaks to journalists, news, and podcast producers on how to effectively pitch in their medium.
In this episode, Amanda and I dissect what makes a killer pitch, using as our example the pitch email she wrote me to become a guest on this show (which worked, obviously!). She shares stories and lessons learned from 12 years of corporate PR work, and tells us about how and why she left that world in order to go into business for herself. We talk about journaling, about the power of naming what's true, and about how to change your story.
Amanda is a delightful well of honesty, and I truly loved this conversation. I hope you do, too!
